Nat Saltonstall is a recognized leader in the field of independent school summer and auxiliary programming. Over the past 30 years, Nat has developed and directed high performing summer programs at multiple independent schools while also elevating the industry through his work on behalf of all schools. Currently Nat serves as the Executive Director of SPARC, the Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue Collaborative. SPARC is the premier national organization serving independent school auxiliary program leaders. Nat founded the organization in 2016 as a national conference, and has since grown SPARC to be a year-round membership collaborative and advisory service. His professional background includes 25 years of work administrating and teaching in both boarding and day schools as well as 20 years leading both day and residential summer programs. Nat is a frequent presenter on the topic of auxiliary programming at conferences and leads SPARC with the same enthusiasm that first inspired him to dedicate his career to independent schools.
Karen McCann McClelland, MBA, MEd is in her 25th year as Director of Auxiliary Programs at Sidwell Friends School, a PK - 12th grade school with 1150 students on two campuses in Bethesda, MD and Washington, DC. In addition to her work at Sidwell, Karen is a Senior Advisor with SPARC (Summer Programs and Auxiliary Revenue Collaborative) helping to create the professional development programs available to members including the roundtable discussions, webinars, book club, and annual Leadership Institute. While she still plays soccer on a number of teams, she has hung up her youth coaching whistle for her new role as a certified executive leadership coach. She enjoys presenting workshops at national and regional conferences including NBOA, NAIS, SPARC, and American Camp Association.
